Day 4 of 4-week Furlough during the COVID 19 Pandemic

I was not very productive on Thursday at all, but the kitties were able to put together 2 more videos:

Day 3 of 4-week Furlough during the COVID 19 Pandemic

So I just had a fun hour that I would normally not be able to participate in due to work. I got to join the Modern Mrs. Darcy stay at home book tour where she talked about her new book, Don't Overthink It. I was super lucky to also win this book through Goodreads. They picked the right one for me to win! Anne Bogel was great as always and I think her calming nature is part of what is so helpful in watching and listening to her. The conversation with everyone in the group was also great. Especially notable was Simone in Italy who chimed in quite frequently with honest, yet encouraging words about this difficult time. She even offered to teach Italian if anyone was interested. What a great group of book readers.

And, my sweet Chevy sat on my lap through the whole conversation with Anne. With Steffi next to us also on the couch.

Now if only the book was on audio, so I'd listen to Anne while cleaning my closets. I'm determined to start that today after 4 pretty lazy days (except for the Zumba classes).

The Heroes during the COVID 19 Pandemic

We definitely have some heroes to honor during this difficult time:

  • Doctors, nurses and all medical personnel keeping the hospitals/OR's going and risking their own lives
  • Truck Drivers who deliver food all across the US (and other countries) often while unable to get food along the way
  • Grocery store employees who work crazy hours keeping the shelves stocked the best that they can and working with more people than recommended
  • Pharmacy employees who keep the medications refilled and assist sick customers
  • Police, Fire, and EMC who try to keep the peace and help people, especially in this time
  • Mail carriers, UPS drivers, FedEx drivers, etc. who keep bringing packages to us so we don't have to go in public
  • The liquor company that started making hand sanitizer
  • The manufacturing companies for starting to make masks and respirators
  • The people sewing fabric masks so that the good masks can go to hospitals and these can be used in veterinary clinics or similar environments
Please people, stay at home.

Day 2 of 4-week Furlough during the COVID 19 Pandemic

Day 2 is slightly different than Day 1.

I decided to go through my cabinets and determine what I would need to truly stay in for the next 4 weeks. Nothing extravagant, but just making sure I have all of the basics so that I can cook and bake for the next few weeks. Plus popcorn, of course!

So I went to Dillons across the street. Don't think I've ever been uncomfortable going to a grocery store before. I admire all of the hard-working employees who are keeping things stocked the best they can, not to mention the truck drivers. I slowly went through the store going through the items on my list and a few other items - hamburger, lunch meat - that weren't on my list. I also bought a bit of cold medication to be prepared in case I get sick.

And I barely get home and I get a text from Dillon's pharmacy saying my prescriptions are ready to pick up. How's that for timing! Well, I had a live video to watch at lunch in one of my glass groups, so I'll wait a bit to go back.

Then when getting a plate for my lunch, I sadly had a small glass catastrophe, I accidentally killed one of my cute little stand-up fish. There's not much to the glass, but they take a bit to put together to keep them even to stand up. unfortunately, it was broken into many pieces, so it's future frit now.

Day 1 of 4-week Furlough during the COVID 19 Pandemic

Today is my first official day of our 4-week furlough. I decided this may be a good time to blog again. We'll see if I keep it up.

I'm basically doing a self-imposed quarantine with my 2 cats. I've stayed in for 3 days and planning to stay in as much as possible. I've been grocery shopping previously, have TP and other supplies and don't really see a reason to go out. There are a few things I may run out of - flour, sugar, eggs, butter. Trying to decide whether to go out before it gets worse or just do without.

Since this is really Day 3, I have done a few things over the weekend and today...
  • Zumba Live with 2 different instructors - Denise Colborn Fitness and Zumba Fitness with Gina Ann Cole
  • Watched the documentary Alive and Kicking with "mamafilm" microcinema and joined the conversation on Zoom afterward with the director
  • Cooked a delicious sausage pasta dish
  • Made these ridiculous videos with my cats:
  • Watched the following on Netflix:
    • Tiger King, Murder Mayhem and Madness - mini-series
    • 100 Humans, Lif's Questions Answered - mini-series
    • Pandemic, How to Prevent an Outbreak - started mini-series
    • All American - started series
  • Made Banana bread
  • Time to get ready for the Webinar with Creative Paradise! I'm excited about something fun and to learn some new projects.
